What is Hitotsunokai?
Hitotsunokai is a social welfare organization in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.
We provide elderly care services.
We were founded in 2004.
Today, we operate 28 facilities across three cities:
Hofu, Yamaguchi, and Ube.
We have 382 staff members.
Our guiding principle is: “Run for others.”
We are dedicated to working hard for the people in our care.
Both Japanese and international staff work here together.
We aim to be a workplace where everyone can thrive.
What kind of work will I do?
At Hitotsunokai, we provide care for elderly people.
Main duties include:
- Assisting with meals
- Assisting with bathing
- Assisting with dressing
- Talking and spending time with residents
- Supporting physical rehabilitation exercises
The specific duties vary depending on the facility.
Some facilities have overnight shifts; others do not.
No prior care experience is required.
We will train you after you join.
Support available when you need it
Hitotsunokai provides support so that international staff
can work with confidence.
A senior staff member will guide you
For the first 3 months after joining,
a senior staff member will work alongside you
and teach you step by step.
You will not be left on your own.
Multilingual tablets are available in some facilities
Some facilities use tablets that support multiple languages.
These can help when communication is difficult.

Working conditions

· Base salary varies by position and experience
· Night shift allowance: ¥5,000 per shift
· Overtime is fully compensated
· Annual salary review (pay raises)

· Paid leave: 10 days after 6 months of employment
· Maternity and parental leave available
· Paternity leave is also supported

· Car commuting is allowed (free parking available)
· Trial period: 3 months

There is one interview.
Two staff members from our organization will meet with you.
It is a relaxed conversation — not something to be nervous about.
We will speak slowly and clearly.

STEP 4｜Job Offer & Conditions
After your interview, we will explain your working conditions.
Please ask about anything you are unsure of at this stage.
STEP 5｜Start Work & Training
After joining, you will begin with a training program.
For the first 3 months, a senior staff member
will guide and support you carefully.

Q. Is it okay if my Japanese is not perfect?
A. Yes, it is okay.
Many of our international staff also found Japanese difficult at first.
Senior staff and colleagues will support you.
Some facilities also have multilingual tablets.
Q. Can I apply without care experience?
A. Yes, you can.
Many staff joined without any prior experience.
For the first 3 months, a senior staff member will train you carefully.

Our staff will do their best to help.
Q. Are there overnight (night shift) duties?
A. It depends on the facility.
Some facilities do not have night shifts.
When you work a night shift, you receive an allowance of ¥5,000.

Q. Will the interview be conducted in Japanese?
A. The interview is in Japanese.
However, we will use simple words and speak slowly.
